Quick verdict
Use when
- A podcast, interview, lesson, or product talk should become several vertical clips
- Captions and speaker reframing should land in the same pass as the cut
- You want to preview one video before paying to download
- The same talking-head source should go to TikTok, Reels, and Shorts
Skip when
- The footage has little or no speech
- You need a full timeline, color grade, or multicam finish
- The recording cannot leave your own machine
- You do not have a long video yet and need a script-to-video generator

What is Klap?
What it costs
- Free tier
- Yes
- Pricing summary
- A new account can run one video with no card. That pass is for preview and edits. Downloading the clips and posting them from the product needs a paid plan, and those paid exports do not carry Klap branding. Paid plans are Basic, Pro, and Pro+, each with a monthly clip allowance. You can pay month to month or on a yearly term. The free path is a single video, not a renewing allowance, so a weekly clipping habit moves onto a paid tier quickly. Confirm the current allowances on the official pricing page.

What Klap provides
Speech-led clips
The cutter looks for spoken topics. Podcasts, interviews, lessons, reviews, and trainings are the inputs it is built for. Silent B-roll and music-only cuts are a weak fit.
Auto reframe
Clips are resized for vertical feeds. Layouts include a followed speaker, split screen, screencast, and gaming, chosen from the scene rather than a single center crop.
Captions
Each clip can ship with captions. Editing and transcription cover a large language set, including English and many other spoken languages.
Schedule the posts
After a paid export you can send clips to TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and LinkedIn and place them on a schedule from the same account.
How to use Klap
Add the long video
Paste a YouTube link or upload a file. A short source can yield several clips; speech is what the cutter uses.
Wait for the cut
The product finds topics, reframes the speaker, and writes captions. You do not mark in and out points first.
Review the clips
Read the suggested clips, keep the ones that stand alone, and adjust framing or captions before you export.
Download on a paid plan
The first video can be previewed with no card. Saving the files and posting them needs a paid plan. Paid downloads do not include a Klap watermark.
Who Klap is for
Product talks and demos
Designers, developers, and product managers who record a launch, a teardown, or an interview and want vertical cuts for social without a second edit.
Podcasts and lessons
Hosts and teachers whose value is in the spoken track, and who need several posts from one episode.
Reviewers on a cadence
Anyone posting talking-head reviews who would rather pick from scored clips than rebuild each short on a timeline.
When Klap is the right pick
Platform notes
- Input
- A YouTube link or an uploaded file. The cutter depends on speech detection.
- Languages
- Editing and transcription cover 52 languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Hindi, and Arabic.
- Where processing happens
- Video files are processed in the cloud on Google Cloud in the United States. This is not an on-device editor. Content stays until you delete it, then up to 30 days in backups.
