Upload a .livp, MOV, or MP4, then save the motion as a video.

A HEIC still has no motion clip. Use /livephoto-to-photo for that file, or /livephoto-to-gif for a GIF. The first conversion downloads FFmpeg (about 25 MB) into this browser.

Turn a Live Photo into a video

Open a .livp or MOV and save the Live Photo motion as an MP4. Conversion runs in your browser. Free, no sign-in.

What is a Live Photo to video converter?

A Live Photo to video converter takes the short movie inside an Apple Live Photo and saves it as an MP4 you can post or send where a Live Photo file is not accepted. Upload a .livp package, or the MOV or MP4 that Photos exported with the Live Photo. The page unzips a .livp, finds the movie, and encodes up to 30 seconds as H.264. A HEIC or JPEG still has no motion; that file belongs on Live Photo to Photo Converter. A GIF export is Live Photo to GIF Converter.

What you can open

The movie from a Live Photo, written as one MP4.
  1. .livp packages: A .livp is a zip of a still and a movie. This page takes the .mov or .mp4 inside and ignores the cover JPEG.

  2. MOV and MP4: If you already exported the Live Photo movie, drop that file. A plain MOV can also be converted on MOV to MP4 Converter.

  3. Sound kept: When the movie has audio, the MP4 includes it as AAC.

  4. Browser encode: FFmpeg runs in the page. The Live Photo is not uploaded for conversion.

How to turn a Live Photo into a video

Open the package or the movie, then download MP4.
  1. Export from Photos or use a .livp

On a Mac you can drag the Live Photo out as a .livp, or save the paired movie. On this page, a sample .livp shows the steps.

  2. Convert

The tool reads the movie and writes an MP4, up to 30 seconds. Live Photos are usually only a few seconds.

  3. Download

Save live-photo.mp4 and use it anywhere an ordinary video is accepted.

Which file to upload

Photos can hand you a still, a movie, or both.
  1. Prefer the .livp or the MOV: The motion lives in the movie. A HEIC cover by itself will not become a video here.

  2. GIF is a different download: If you want a looping GIF instead of MP4, use Live Photo to GIF Converter.

  3. Building a Live Photo from a video: The other direction is Video to Live Photo, which writes a new .livp from an MP4 or MOV.

  4. Long movies are cut at 30 seconds: A Live Photo clip is short. This page stops at 30 seconds so a full-length movie is not re-encoded end to end.

When to use it

Jobs that need a normal video file.
  • Share outside Photos

Send the motion to a chat or site that does not open a Live Photo.

  • A .livp you downloaded

Open the package and keep the movie without installing a desktop app.

  • A soundtrack you want to keep

The MP4 carries the audio track when the Live Photo movie has one.

What you get

One MP4 of the Live Photo motion.
  1. No account: There is no sign-in step and no watermark on the MP4.

  2. Local conversion: The file is read in the browser. It is not uploaded to be converted.

  3. The movie, not the cover: The JPEG inside a .livp is skipped. The download is the moving part.

Technical details

How a Live Photo becomes an MP4.
Package
A .livp is unzipped in the browser. Stored and deflated entries are read. The first .mov, .mp4, or .m4v entry is the source.
Encode
FFmpeg.wasm writes H.264 (yuv420p) and AAC when audio is present, with the moov atom at the front of the file. Output stops at 30 seconds.
Limits
.livp, .zip, .mov, .mp4, and .m4v up to 80 MB. A package with only a still image is refused.
