Tips for the M3U8 player
- 01
Include every segment file
A playlist that names segment-0.ts will not play until that file is in the upload.
- 02
Prefer HTTPS links
Only https:// playlist URLs are accepted for remote play.
- 03
CORS blocks some streams
If a remote playlist fails, the server may refuse browser requests. Use a local copy of the files instead.
Good uses for an M3U8 player
Check a local HLS export: Confirm a saved playlist and its segments play before you convert them.
Quick HTTPS preview: Open a public .m3u8 link to verify the stream in the browser.
Skip the desktop player: Play M3U8 without installing VLC or another app for a short check.

Technical details
- Local input
- A local .m3u8 or .m3u media playlist plus the segment files it names, up to 800 files and 200 MB together.
- Remote input
- An https:// URL to a .m3u8 playlist. The browser fetches the playlist and segments for playback only.
- Playback engine
- Safari can use native HLS for remote URLs. Other browsers use hls.js. Local uploads always use hls.js with blob URLs.
- What is left out
- This page does not download or remux the stream into MP4. DRM-protected streams are not supported.
