Resize Facebook photos for profile, cover, and posts

Resize Facebook photos for profile pictures, cover photos, feed posts, and stories. Free, no sign-in.

What is a Facebook image resizer?

A Facebook image resizer exports a still photo at the sizes Facebook uses for a profile picture, a Page cover, a shared feed image, and a story. Resize a Facebook photo to 320×320 for a profile picture, 851×315 for a cover, 1200×630 for a link-style feed image, 1080×1080 for a square post, or 1080×1920 for a story. Cover mode center-crops to fill the frame. Contain mode keeps the whole photo and fills the bars. Facebook displays the profile picture as a circle and covers the left side of a Page cover with that avatar, so keep logos toward the middle of the cover. For a circular preview, use PFP Cropper. The file is drawn in the browser.

Facebook sizes on this page

Presets follow the profile and cover sizes in Facebook Help, plus feed and story frames.
  1. Profile picture at 320×320: Facebook Help says a Page profile picture should be 320×320 for best quality. It displays smaller and is cropped to a circle. This export stays square.

  2. Cover photo at 851×315: That is the upload size Facebook Help cites for a fast-loading Page cover. Desktop shows it nearer 820×312, and phones crop it differently. The profile picture overlaps the left edge.

  3. Feed, square, and story: Feed / link image is 1200×630. Square post is 1080×1080. Story is 1080×1920. These are upload frames, not a promise of how every placement will crop.

  4. Crop or keep the full photo: Cover fills the target and crops the overflow. Contain fits the entire image and lets you set the bar color. Download as PNG, JPG, or WebP.

How to resize an image for Facebook

Match the placement, then download.
  1. Upload a still photo

Use JPG, PNG, or WebP. The first example loads so the preview is ready. Animated GIFs become a single frame here; use GIF Resizer if the loop has to stay.

  2. Pick the Facebook placement

Profile picture, cover photo, feed / link image, square post, or story. Cover mode fills the frame. Contain mode letterboxes.

  3. Download and check the crop

Save the file, then look at it on the Page. Mobile cover crops are tighter than the desktop frame, so keep important type away from the edges.

Placement tips

What changes after Facebook places the file.
  • 01

Shift cover artwork to the right

The profile picture sits on the lower-left of a Page cover. A logo in that corner will be hidden. Center or right-align the important part before you export.

  • 02

Expect a circle on profile photos

A 320×320 square is the upload. Facebook masks it. Preview the circle with PFP Cropper if the corners of the square matter.

  • 03

    Prefer JPG for covers

Facebook Help notes that an sRGB JPG cover loads quickly. Switch the download format to JPG when file size matters. PNG is fine for graphics with hard edges.

  • 04

    Do not stretch

Both fit modes keep the photo’s proportions. If you need a freeform pixel size that is not one of these presets, use Resize Image.

When to use this resizer

The Facebook jobs these presets cover.
  • Page and profile avatars

Export a sharp 320×320 square for a Facebook profile picture resizer workflow.

  • Page covers

Fit a wide photo to 851×315 before you upload it as the cover.

  • Posts and stories

Prepare a 1200×630 link image, a square post, or a 1080×1920 story still.

What you get

A placement-sized file without a desktop editor.
  1. Named placements: Each button is a Facebook placement with its pixel size, not a generic ratio list.

  2. No account: There is no sign-in. The download is the image only, with no watermark.

  3. Local processing: The photo stays in the browser. Nothing is sent to a server to be resized.

Technical details

How the Facebook export is drawn.
Exact pixel canvas
The output canvas is set to the preset width and height. Cover and contain scale with one factor, then drawImage places the photo.
Profile and cover sources
320×320 and 851×315 come from Facebook Help for Page profile pictures and cover photos. Feed and story presets are common upload frames and can be cropped again by the app.
Inputs
JPG, PNG, WebP, and a single GIF frame, up to the site upload cap. Animation is not preserved.
