Make a GIF from photos online

Turn JPEG, PNG, or WebP photos into one animated GIF. Reorder frames, set delay, preview, and download — free, no sign-in.

What is a GIF maker?

A GIF maker turns still photos into one animated GIF. Add JPEG, PNG, or WebP images, set the play order and how long each frame stays up, then export a looping GIF. This page does not convert video (use Video to GIF), join existing animations (use GIF Combiner), or lay photos out in a grid (use the photo combiner). Encoding runs in your browser.

GIF maker controls

Build an animated GIF from still photos in the browser.
  1. Photos to GIF: Each JPEG, PNG, or WebP upload becomes one frame in the animation.

  2. Frame order: Move photos earlier or later before you encode.

  3. Shared frame size: Width sets the canvas. Height follows the first photo so the loop does not jump size.

  4. Cover or contain: Crop to fill, or fit the full photo on a solid background.

  5. Delay and loop: Set how long each photo stays on screen, and whether the GIF loops.

  6. GIF download: Save the animation as gif-maker.gif after you preview it.

How to make a GIF from images

Steps to turn photos into an animated GIF.
  1. Add photos

Drop or browse at least two JPEG, PNG, or WebP files (up to 24, 15 MB each).

  2. Set the order

Use the arrows so frames play in the sequence you want.

  3. Choose timing and fit

Set frame delay, width, cover or contain, and loop.

  4. Make and download

Click Make GIF, check the preview, then Download GIF.

Tips for photo GIFs

Cleaner loops and smaller files.
  • 01

    Start with the framing photo

Canvas height follows the first image. Put the aspect you want at the top of the list.

  • 02

Use Cover for a full-bleed loop

Cover crops edges so every frame fills the same rectangle.

  • 03

    Slow the delay for text

Title cards need a longer frame delay than a fast slideshow.

  • 04

    Keep the width modest

480 px is enough for chat and social. Wider frames make a larger GIF.

GIF makers compared

How this photo GIF maker differs from nearby tools on this site and common web GIF makers.
  • Ezgif GIF maker

Makes a GIF from images or video on a server, with resize and delay controls. Files are uploaded.

  • GIF Combiner

Joins animated GIFs (and optional stills) in sequence. It does not force every frame onto one photo canvas.

  • Video to GIF

Samples frames from a video file. It does not start from a stack of photos.

  • GIF Maker

Builds one GIF from JPEG, PNG, or WebP photos only. Shared width, cover or contain, delay, and loop. Encoding stays in the browser.

When to use a GIF maker

Typical photo-to-GIF jobs.
  • Slideshow loops

Play a short set of stills as one looping GIF for a post or deck.

  • Step sequences

Show a process as ordered frames instead of a video file.

  • Before and after

Alternate two photos with a readable delay.

  • Storyboard drafts

Check pacing before you move the same stills into a video editor.

Why make a GIF here

What this photo GIF maker does in the browser.
  • No sign-in

Open the page, add photos, and download. No account.

  • Stays on your device

Encoding runs locally. Photos are not uploaded.

  • Free

No watermark on the GIF you download.

  • One frame size

Mixed photo sizes land on a single canvas instead of shifting every frame.

Technical details

How photo-to-GIF encoding works on this page.
Inputs
JPEG, PNG, and WebP stills. Animated GIF files are rejected.
Canvas
Width 160–800 px. Height follows the first photo, capped at 1080 px.
Fit
Cover scales and crops. Contain letterboxes onto the background color.
Encode
gifenc writes a palette GIF with the delay you set and a forever loop or a single play.
Limits
2–24 files, 15 MB each. Very large photos use more browser memory while encoding.
